An Introduction to Wi Bas-Max

The Teralight WiBAS-Max product line is an integrated, end to- end wireless access system solution that includes base station equipment (indoor chassis with up to six modems and six radios and an external antenna), an integrated Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), and a system management platform. The base station communicates with thousands of CPEs using a Non-Line of Site air interface standard called WiMAX.
The WiBAS-Max is based on an IP platform with QoS mechanisms for the delivery of multiple services, including broadband data, VoIP and other rich applications (VPN, VLAN, streaming video, fax over IP, etc.). Therefore, carriers can now deploy a single network capable of supporting a variety of services efficiently. WiBAS-Max stands as the ideal wireless solution for:
• Triple Play services
• Virtual Private Networks
• Feeding Wi-Fi Hot Spots

Teralight has focused its product line on delivering this value proposition to address the critical themes essential to most carriers: the ability to deliver comprehensive solutions that are both capital and operationally efficient, and also have a proven track record in the market.

WiBAS-Max Features & Characteristics

• IEEE 802.16 – 2004 compliant
• WiMAX Forum certified.
• Operating frequency band 3.3 GHz to 3.8 GHz
• Selectable fixed channel bandwidths (1.75 / 3.50 / 7.00 / 14.00 MHz), uplink and downlink
• Use of industry standard interfaces and protocols (10 / 100BaseT, SNMP, SIP) allowing easy   integration with 3rd party network elements.
• Over 230 Mbits net throughput and up to 6000 users (per Sector)
• OFDM technology / NLOS operation
• Dynamic bandwidth allocation
• Comprehensive QoS
• Universal AC and DC (-48 V) power supply options

The main features and benefits of the WiBAS-Max system are given below

Feature Benefits

• Low cost
• Faster ROI in areas of low subscriber densities or rural and suburban areas.
• Scalable, cost-effective architecture
• Ability to expand system’s capacity and coverage as the network grows.
• NLOS air interface
• Ability to reach users in “obstructed” areas
• "Multi-Service" platform
• Enables the operator to provide triple play services such as Internet access, VPN, VLAN, VoIP   and video to generate revenues from different customer segments. Residential, SoHo (Small   Office/Home Office) and SME (Small to Medium Enterprise).
• QoS (CIR and PIR)services
• Offer different Service Level Agreements (SLA) to different customer segments
• Half duplex & Full duplex CPEs
• Full duplex for triple-play applications (data + voice + video).
• Half-duplex for Internet access
• Integrated CPE with Power over Ethernet capability
• Faster and easier to deploy CPEs.
• Simplified installation.
• Call Admission Control (CAC)
• Ability to “over-book” voice services in a congested multi-service network .
• Based on WiMAX, IP, Ethernet, SIP, SNMP, TMN standards.
• Seamless, industry-standard, network compatibility.
• Protection against hardware / technology obsolescence.
• Leverage proven technologies and economies of scale.
• Use certified inter-operable WiMAX products from other vendors in the future.
• System Redundancy
• The WiBAS-Max system can operate in a 1+1 redundancy mode when required. Multiple base   station chassis can be installed to excite the cell with multiple RF carriers per sector.
