Satellite Broadband Ireland signs Ka-Sat contract
Satellite Broadband Ireland (SBI) has signed a commercial agreement with Eutelsat Communications to sell broadband services via Ka-Sat. The initial three-year broadband utility contract, worth more than €5 million, will allow SBI to sell Eutelsat’s Tooway satellite broadband service, with download speeds of up to 10 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 4 Mbps. Pakistan will launch its first indigenously developed communications satellite on August 14, 2011, from a facility in China. Turksat 4A and 4B to launch on Proton
International Launch Services (ILS) and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (Meldo) of Tokyo, Japan, have announced a new contract for the launch of Turksat 4A and Turksat 4B on ILS Proton. Turksat 4A is scheduled to launch in late 2013 and Turksat 4B in early 2014.
Each satellite will weigh approximately 3800 kg and will be built on Melco’s DS2000 standard comsat platform. . more...
